| ok, for anyone that wanted to hear what I've been doing... My Mom and I are on a road trip across the US. Sunday - Knoxville to Dayton We left Knoxville around 7 am and drove to Dayton, OH where my Uncle Tom and Aunt MaryEllen live. We arrived around 12:30 and they took us around. We got to see 3 out of 4 of my cousins and their families. One of my cousins has a son that is a freshman in College! I thought he'd be smaller than that! It rained almost all day. (5.5 hours driving) Monday - Dayton to Kansas City Then we drove from Dayton, OH to Kansas City, MO. We left at 7 and arrived around 5:30. We left and there had been a wind that had cleaned up the roads so even though the temperature had dropped, we didn't have a problem with ice. On the way there, we stopped in Columbus, MO and had lunch with my cousin Susan. (8.5 hours driving) Tuesday - Kansas City We stayed in Kansas City, MO for the day to spend time with my grandparents. Wednesday - Kansas City to Lincoln We left Kansas City around 9 am and headed to Lincoln, NE. It was only like a 3 hour drive. (Not bad.) It was fun to see Mark and Lori M. They have a cute new addition to their family in an adorable dog named Tessa. (3 hours driving) Thursday - Lincoln to Colorado Springs We were planning on leaving at 7 but I have trouble getting started in the mornings and we were visiting so I wasn't really wanting to run out. Then it started to snow... So we left pretty quickly because we needed to get out before the roads go to bad. So we drove a few hours in the snow and then finally got out on the other side of the storm. Then we just ran down to Colorado Springs. I thought that we would be late so when I was driving (AND when it wasn't snowy!!) I drove 7-8 miles over the speed limit. We managed to get into Colorado Springs around 5 and met up with the Colorado Crew at a Nepali Restaurant at 6! It was great to see everyone again and visit with them! The event is on Facebook if you want more info. Friday - Colorado Springs to Holbrook This was a great and uneventful drive. It was windy the whole way but not so bad to deal with. I'd rather have wind then snow or ice! On our way down we stopped at Sky City Casino and went inside. People with CDL (professional truckers) can get $5 free to spend in the casino. My Mom has a CDL. So we got the $5 and then went to put it back in the machines. I promptly lost $1 in a machine and Mom did too, so we moved to a different type of machine. I lost another dollar there too. But there was a server with free cokes and stuff walking around, so we each got a coke to drink. I had seen an advertisement for free WiFi so we went to find that and sat there using their WiFi to get my emails and find out information on where we should spend the night. We finished that and decided to get back on the road. So we were walking thru and found another server with Cokes... so we got more... (Free Coke #2). Then we headed to the car. I was laughing on our way out because we came out of the casino with $2 of the house's money, we each drank 2 Cokes and used the WiFi... :) That's probably the only time the house didn't win! We drove into Holbrook and stayed at a little place called Desert Inn. It was cheap and clean enough and the trains came by all night. So it was amusing. :) Next post...
